WINNER GLOBAL DEFENSE, LLC
Winner Global Defense, LLC (WGD) is currently undertaking an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) detection research and development project with Soreq NRC, a leading defense-related laboratory in Yavne, IS.
At the Equity International Homeland Security Technology Summit in Washington, DC (3/13/2007), DHS Under-Secretary Jay Cohen outlined the DHS Science & Technology objectives to “predict, detect, defeat and destroy IEDs.”
WGD is developing a remote sensing-laser system employing a unique enhancement with Pulsed Laser Photo-dissociation followed by Laser Induced Fluorescence (PLP/LIF) technology.
The advantages of our relationship with Soreq NRC are:
- Soreq’s engineers have extensive experience with the traditional methods of PLP/LIF detection;
- Soreq’s laser enhancement technique has "solved" the problem of detecting Nitrate-based explosives with much weaker vapors than TNT;
- Soreq, with WDG, is currently developing a one-of-a-kind experimental (transportable) system to work at ranges of up to 50m.
- Soreq’s lead engineer estimates that current and developing laser technology would allow extending their capability to a ruggedized, transportable system with capability to detect at 100m range.
WGD is on the verge of meeting many of the objectives for IED prediction and detection outlined by DHS. WGD has overcome many of the initial technological risks of the project, and is now looking forward to prototype development that will lead to full-scale production of a market-ready system.
Other technologies that WGD is pursuing are in the areas of security screening devices, missile defense, and medical uses of laser spectroscopy.
